This year we went to my sister, Stephanie's house for Thanksgiving. Dave was supposed to be able to come, but work duty called and they put him on a strike team. He was scheduled to be on the team for at least a week, and had already worked about a week.
While Caiden and I were having family fun at the Naffins, Dave was passing out turkey dinners to the victims of the California Wildfires we had earlier this year. Many people were displaced from their homes, so it makes one even MORE thankful that we have friends and family, and a roof over our heads this year.
Steph and Dave had just had their landscaping finished, and they wanted to show it off. It looks great! They have a waterfall, a built in BBQ, and while we cooked, Phil and Dave N. built their patio set. (Well, built is a bit lenient of a term...put it together...twice is more like it) :)
The waterfall they had built
Caiden enjoyed playing with cousins Lindsay and Kyle, and Lindsay and Kyle enjoyed jumping in their jumper and swinging to some lullaby music.

We had a yummy dinner with mashed potatoes (my favorite), turkey, stuffing, green beans, and the like. Phil cut the turkey and made sure to keep a leg for himself...very caveman Phil :P

After dinner we got a call that my mother in law was taken to the hospital. Thankfully, she is ok, but she did have to go the ER. Since she was in Dave's Fire Department, they called Dave's chief and had him dispatched to the hospital where his mom was at. He was pulled off the strike team which cost us a couple thousand dollars and Dave was sent home to be with his family. Thankfully, his mom was ok. Dave was able to stay the night up in Big Bear and then came over the day after Thanksgiving.
We also celebrated Dave Naffin's birthday as it is so close to Thanksgiving. Caiden was all to eager to help Uncle Dave blow out his candles.

Uncle Dave's birthday cake...we also had pies and cheesecake.
All in all it was great to have family around at Thanksgiving.
