I fully admit when I have been blog slacking. Now these pictures were taken nearly a month ago, but I never posted them. My goal tonight is to catch up so you aren't continuing to get blog entries over a month late. There has been quite a bit going on, and some very important milestones that I would like to share with you. :)
Kiya was enthralled with the whole process...even when Dave was making the necessary adjustments to Caiden's bike
Caiden hit a big milestone about a month or so ago when he rode his bike for the first time without training wheels. I was so impressed with him!! He had been wanting to ride his bike, and he was riding so fast he wasn't really using the training wheels anymore. They seemed like they were a hindrance more than anything. I thought it might be the perfect time for him to take the plunge and try riding his bike solo!!
Caiden prepares to take off as Dave holds on (note the concentration on his face)
Of course he was not as sure. After a some discussion and a resetting of expectations (you ARE going to fall...we all do. It's how we learn. We need to practice being good at something, and sometimes practice involves falling. We just try to prepare for it as much as possible, get up, dust ourselves off and try again! He was still apprehensive about falling, so I just padded him up like the Michelin man, and off he went.
Dave run as Caiden rides all by himself!!!
Dave, of course had to run behind him...my back still is on the mend. Caiden did absolutely great, and Kiya cheered him on the whole time. She was fascinated by him!! He was able to not only ride without help, but was also able to turn!!! We are still working on stopping. The stopping part is a work in progress, and this is the only part in which he stumbles enough that he falls.
Dave gives Caiden a much deserved high five!!
Kiya was very vocal in the whole process...she loved watching her brother ride.
Because Caiden did so well, Dave went out and bought him a new helmet (Spiderman) and elbow and knee pads (we didn't have any before).
Go Caiden!!!!!!! Before long he will be going up and down hills, just you wait and see :)

Very cool. I like that you didn't tell him he wouldn't fall. It is good to be honest with kids.
Go Caiden! What a great accomplishment, and nice to have your own cheering squad (Kiya).
