A TRUE Oath of Friendship

One of my employees sent this to me today. She pointed out the numbers she felt were for me.

I thought it was so true and funny that I wanted to share it (the email, not her comments of course) :P

None of that Sissy Crap
Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good,
but never actually come close to reality?
Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.
You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card-
Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad --I will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you're scared -- we will high tail it out of here.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining, ya big baby!!!!

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick --Stay away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I'll pick you up and dust you off--
After I laugh my butt off!!

9. This is my oath...I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask -- because you are my FRIEND!

Making Wahoo's History: 1st Dual Customer Of the Month!

Maybe it's the Olympic spirit that has gotten into our blood, or maybe it is just us challenging the status quo, but Heather and I have decided that we are going to become the first Wahoo's DUAL CUSTOMERS OF THE MONTH!

Ok, so it wasn't the Olympic spirit as we came up with the idea last week before the games started, but still everyone has to have a goal right? Let me rewind a bit. Every time we go to Wahoo's Fish Taco we stand in line, and we stare at the Customer of the Month picture. Every time we ask each other why the customer of the month looks so unhappy. Well, on Friday, I had had enough!!

This is Kevin, this month's customer of the month. Does he make you FEEL like eating at Wahoo's.

Now look at Heather. MUCH better, right?

I told Heather, that we would be much better customers of the month, and she agreed. I mean, don't you?

So of course when it came time for us to order, I asked how one becomes Customer of the month. The answer: Eat there every day. Ok, so this will not be possible for us, as Heather and I cannot afford to eat at Wahoo's every day (not that we wouldn't WANT to). Heather chimes in that we would be much more enthusiastic customers of the month than the past two, and of course I added that we would sell their business better as we would have a kick ass picture to boot!! At least one where we were SMILING!!!

This is my food...looks good right?

So seeing as we cannot eat at Wahoo's everyday, we have to make a plan. We have to make the time that we do have there count! I mean, how do they REALLY know if someone eats there everyday? So, while we were eating we came up with the following plan.

Action Plan:

  • To become the 1st dual customer of the month
  • Find their web page or email and declare our intentions
  • Declare our intentions to the manager, and employees
  • Be EXTREMELY energetic, pleasant and memorable (my hair helped on the day we decided to do this as it was in a kind of princess lei look- but of course HEATHER FORGOT to say goodbye to our hostess...she had to be REMINDED to be pleasant...we cannot have these kinds of slip ups in the future, Heather. This is SERIOUS business) :P
  • Save receipts to prove our loyalty!!!
So, what do you think? We can SO do this!!

Not only does the Customer of the month look unhappy, but so does the employee of the month. You should have seen the customer of the month LAST month. He looked MISERABLE!

So, in closing, if you are ANYWHERE NEAR the Wahoo's in Tustin put in a good word for us! We could use it!! :)

The Naffins Come Swimming

Well, it's about time if I do say so myself. My sister FINALLY brought my niece and nephew to partake in the pool fun. Since she has the twins, my mom came along to assist her, however my mom ended up being the photographer of the day really. I felt like a rock star with my very own Paparazzi! :) Although she has forbidden me from posting pics of her from this event (see mom, I DO listen). :P

First we ate lunch, so that we could put to rest the myth about waiting an hour after eating before you swim. :) Shortly after eating, we began the task of getting all four kids ready to swim and lathered with sun screen. I think my mom was ready to go home after that, as it was quite the chaotic little moment now that everyone crawls and/or walks.

Kiya and I in all our chubby glory :)

Swimming was fun, and all of the kids enjoyed it (well as long as we didn't bring any type of flotation device around Lindsay she did, otherwise she screamed bloody murder). Caiden did very well with all of the kids too - he shuttled Kyle in the raft around and made funny faces to Lindsay, Kyle and Kiya. As you can see from the lack of pictures of Caiden, he became a bit camera shy. He was more focused on fun in the sun than posing for pictures. :P

Kiya and I just swimming along
Kiya floating along...she was a bit tired.
Here Kiya has finally fallen asleep. The excitement was too much for her
Steph and Lindsay splash in the water
And smile...well at least Steph did :P
Just call Caiden the little tugboat...
And I guess I would be the ferry :)
Trying to get Lindsay comfortable with the water. This is only her second time in.
Once we got going, and avoided the flotation devices she was having fun
Caiden graced us with his presence for a picture. :)

A Day At Big Bear!

So Dave being at the fires, I thought I would take the kids up to Big Bear to see Sue and Jim. Caiden LOVES going up there and I thought it would be the perfect time to go up and hang out with Papa Jim and Grammie Sue.

I called and made the necessary arrangements and we had been looking forward to it the whole week. On Saturday I got a call from Dave saying that they were being sent home from the fire (it was out) and that he would be coming home, but he would be staying at the station Saturday night as he had to work on Sunday. I asked him multiple times if he was coming home, but he kept saying no as they would get home too late and he would basically have to turn around and go back to work.

That settled, I tucked the kids in bed and retired myself to get some shut eye. Sometime later, what felt like the middle of the night to me, I wake up. I sense something is amiss, but I don't hear anything and both dogs are still with me on the bed, quiet but stirring. Still, something didn't feel quite right to me. I turn towards the nightstand to get my glasses (frankly because I cannot see a darn thing without them) when I see it. A shadow lurking over me. I scream bloody murder with thoughts crazily flashing through my mind (Someone is staring at me...what am I going to do? How am I going to get to the kids? Why aren't the dogs barking? Why didn't the alarm go off? What the hell am I going to do?). Then the dark shadow starts laughing.

Yeah, Dave came home. This normally would be nice, if he had done so in the proper "Honey, I'm home from the fire kind of way?" Not the creepy-I'm-staring-at-you-and-I-am-a-serial-killer kind of way. Glad he had a laugh, but I am the half blind mother of two that was just woken up by the presence of a strange being in her home. Crazy man! Who thinks THAT's funny?

Anyway, Dave not only surprised me by coming home, but the next morning when he was still in bed sleeping and I frantically wake him up because I think he is late for work, he calmly tells me that he organized getting the day off (not an easy task at the last minute). He decided he was going to join me on my trek to Big Bear. Dave had bought us all shirts from the Yosemite Fire AKA the Telegraph fire, so we all wore them up to BB. Dave and I had green shirts, and Caiden and Kiya had blue ones (they did not have pink in her size Heather :P...we wish they had because everyone thought Kiya was a boy in her blue shirt).

Here we are in our matching shirts. We also have grey ones

And Grammie and Papa with Kiya and Caiden

There was so much to do there. I wish we could have stayed longer. First, we went out to breakfast with Grammie Sue and Papa Jim. That took an awfully long time as they were pretty busy. It was cool to see how appreciative people are to firefighters. Some of the tables thanked Dave for his hard work at Yosemite, and one table kept trying to get Jim to give them a firefighter calendar from his department.

Next we went home to give the "kids" a little rest. This meant that Kiya and Caiden laid down and didn't sleep while Dave snoozed on the couch. Finally Grammie Sue snuck into Caiden's room and coaxed him outside and we sat outside eating ice cream and watching birds.

Here is A bird...there were many

Caiden couldn't resist helping Papa Jim in the garage. He was such a good helper handing him stuff to put away. He even had his work gloves on. While the boys worked. Kiya tried on some hats that Grammie Sue had made.

I thought Kiya had a funny expression here

We then woke up Dave just in the nick of time, so that we could take a ride up the ski lift to get a view of Big Bear Lake. It was very pretty, but a little hazy (it was humid and looked like a thunderstorm was approaching).

Of course, Caiden wanted to ride with Grammie and Papa, so Dave, Kiya and I rode on our own ski lift. Some of the pictures are a bit blurry, but it was hard to keep my hand still on that ski chair (plus I didn't realize there was an arm bar you were supposed to pull down, so I kept thinking I was going to fall out).

Ok, so this was my 3rd shot and I finally managed to get myself in there

was beautiful

What better way to beat the heat and end the day than with an ice cream cone from the North Pole? That's what we thought too, so off we went. :) It was SOOO good. I had lemon and raspberry sorbet in a chocolate tipped waffle cone (Heather - PLEASE do me a favor and do not calculate the caloric content of my indiscretion).

Everything I wanted, but didn't get
Ice Cream family
I look so tall because I took this myself
Kiya LOVED Jim's ice cream - she lunged for it

We then came back to Grammie Sue and Papa Jim's house where we visited and played games. We then had a delicious dinner and were on the road back home again. It was a wonderful visit, albeit too brief. Thank you for letting us come up to see you :)

Caiden - A Double Threat?

So you know how people say that someone who can act, sing and dance is a triple threat? Well here is my little double threat in training.

My mom bought Caiden (for my loyal readers you are already aware of this) a karaoke type machine for kids. Caiden pulled it out Saturday night and started to dance and sing. Of course I thought it was both so funny and cute that I grabbed my camera. The toy is kinda cool. It plays music, he can sing and dance and be on TV all at the same time.

Clearly, the dancing comes from his father :P (Just kidding...I'm not that great either).
His confidence DEFINITELY comes from Dave. As you can see he is NOT shy and dances and sings with reckless abandon. Hopefully he keeps that. I would hate for him to end up like me and be so paranoid that he can't TRULY let himself just go and have fun.

Ok, so he doesn't watch shows with gangs or violence, but he looks like he is throwing signs here
Not sure why, but he is completely fascinated with his bum...a bit strange if I do say so myself (notice it on the TV - yea so did he) :P

I guess he is sending a kiss to his loyal fans :P
And this must be the part where he incorporates the movie he watched a few days ago...Madagascar...looks a bit like an elephant to me.

Here is a video I thought you might enjoy. Of course I cut the video down because it was tad too long.

This is the part where he starts doing martial arts moves

And maybe a little kick boxing?
