The Pumpkin Patch 2007 - Pachecos

Katie, Daniel, Christy and Caiden
Caiden was SO happy to go to the Pumpkin patch

It was a bit overcast and a little on the rainy side (although we did not get wet), so Katie and I thought what better way to enjoy a Friday evening than to take the kids to the pumpkin patch.

And look how tall he's gotten
Daniel and Christy were good sports and posed with Caiden and the pumpkins

Again, with the BIG smile.

They have this cool pumpkin patch at a local college that has it all. A bounce house, teepees, a haunted house (which I ALWAYS avoid - I am quite the wuss), some kind of bag thing that you can hit, barnyard animals, face painting, mechanical toys to ride and yes LOADS of pumpkins! All kinds, white, orange, cinderella, some kind of mixed looking ones that look like growths of some unnatural kinds.

The kids love it, and Caiden has been BEGGING me to take him. I have to say, I probably wasn't in the most patient of moods. Caiden was a bit uncooperative with photos, my camera died yet again (even though I JUST put batteries in a few days prior), and it was a bit on the cold side. But it was wonderful to spend time with Katie and the kids and Caiden had a blast.

After we took some pictures, the kids took off to play. Christy even painted a pumpkin on Caiden's face for fun.

We also feed the animals, and rode some of the mechanical rides.

Dinner anyone? Just kidding.
Caiden enjoyed feeding the goats
What a ham this goat was with Christy. He was so happy to have his picture taken

On our way out, Katie asked Christy to pretend like she was holding the wheelbarrow full of baby pumpkins. The problem: she actually picked it up and it tipped over. It was actually quite funny. Katie got a picture of it on it's way down. Notice my contribution (I stuck my foot out - like that was really going to help). Anyway, we cleaned the pumpkin mess up, and laughed about what country bumpkins we seemed like on the way out.

My contribution to the falling wheelbarrow...it didn't work, but it sure was funny

It was a good time had for all. Now it's time to eat!! :)

Caiden's 2007 School Pictures 3 yrs

Caiden recently sat for his school pictures. He was so excited, as he showed me the smile he used when taking his pictures.

Anyway, here he is in all of his glory. I know that I am biased, but he is the cutest kid! :)

Disneyland Fun with Grammie Sue and Papa Jim

Grammie Sue and Papa Jim came down the mountain to see Caiden and take the Bonney Family to Disneyland. They even arranged to meet some friends, so they could sign us in. It was VERY nice of them, especially when we found out that tickets now cost $91 a person (and Caiden is over the age limit where he gets in free). Can you believe that? $91 for 1 day at Disneyland. That's crazy.

Well, I was excited for a number of reasons. I wanted to go with Caiden to Disneyland, and I had also just bought this purse the day before that could fit SO MUCH!! The only problem was that my luck struck again (really, my mother should have named me Murphy. It would have fit so much better - you know Murphy's law and all). Let me tell you a little about my luck versus Dave's. To make matters worse, my camera was dying (I think it is breaking), my camera batteries died (I had spares), and my memory card filled up just as I was getting a cute video of caiden (again I had a spare). I didn't get THAT many pictures because my camera was being temperamental.

see the zip ties...functional, NOT fashionable

I walk into Disneyland - my brand new purse that I just switched to THAT morning breaks
Dave walks into Disneyland - he finds $10

Thankfully, Jim and Dave came to my rescue and got a few zip ties from the Balloon guy and fixed my purse. It's not exactly chic, but it kept the strap on.

Our first ride was Peter Pan. Caiden was lucky enough to ride that with Grammie Sue and Papa Jim.

You can Fly!

Unfortunately, Grammie Sue was unable to join Caiden for the Carousel ride - which he later told us was his most favorite ride. I think it's because we just watched Mary Poppins and he liked the part where they go off the Carousel onto the race track.

We then went to Dumbo, and the Jungle Cruise ride. Caiden liked the rides, but got a little scared on the Jungle Cruise. Dave came to the rescue though, and helped him through the hard parts.

Not sure what they are doing here...my memory has failed me

After cruising through the jungle , Dave took Caiden to the jungle store, where he bought him a sword, and we tried on fun hats. Caiden thought the Nemo hat was funny.

Dave taught Caiden how to attack me with the sword. This is him getting ready to attack me

Caiden just put his head down to show me the Nemo

Then it was on to the Tea cup ride. That was a hoot. Caiden LOVED it at first...it was laughing and spinning. About halfway through his laughter and smile faded and I think he got a bit sick to his stomach. He told Dave that he wanted to get off NOW!!! Dave thankfully stopped proactively spinning the ride, and when it came to a complete stop it took Cade a minute to get his sea legs again. After that, he told us that he wasn't a big fan of the spinning. :)

After his stomach settled down and we had a bit to eat and a bit of a rest, Caiden felt ready to take on the road...he played limo driver to Grammie Sue. As you can see Grammie Sue was quite brave to let this little road racer drive her around. He can barely see over the front of the car. :) Dave of course chose a red sports car to drive.

Can you find Caiden?

Grammie Sue and Papa Jim took Caiden to give him a lesson in buying something. He chose an Orange cup (of course it would be orange), they gave him the money to pay for it and had him take it to the register and complete the transaction. I think he liked that, but didn't quite understand the process quite yet.

Caiden's first transaction - or at least the first at Disneyland
Caiden getting change, but unfortunately he left the cup he bought. Don't worry we got it.

At the end of the day when we were waiting for the tram, I stole a glance at Caiden and he was trying to stand just like his daddy. I thought that was cute, and my camera decided to cooperate, so I took a picture. :)

Caiden wanted to be JUST like his daddy. He is standing the same exact way.

Time For Some Fall Cleaning

I know it doesn't look clean, but it's a HUGE improvement

Who needs Spring time as an excuse to clean? Not me, and since I had the help of my mom, I was able to get a little bit more done around the house.

I have had a burst of some renewed energy lately, but don't quite have the stamina or the muscles at this point to do EVERYTHING that I want to do. I did take on the task of cleaning the garage, as I was sick and tired of having to try and maneuver through the mess to get to the other side.

This is halfway through, you can start to see a path forming
There were things everywhere. Caiden was such a big help sweeping
I pretty much left Dave's tools alone. That is a project for another day.
Caiden really enjoyed using the dust pan and broom (so much like Grammie Sue) :)

Although I don't know where Dave wants all his tools, at least I stacked them on the right side of the garage. I started taking pictures halfway through. You should have seen it from the beginning. You'd think that we didn't make much progress, but in actuality we did. All of the furniture in the middle, I didn't touch. I can't, or should I say, I shouldn't be lifting it right now. Not to mention we need to sell all of it anyway. It's not stuff we are planning on keeping.

I did find a space for the bikes, parking place for Caiden's beloved jeep (the only vehicle we plan to park in the garage) as well as a "viewing" area for me to sit while Caiden plays with the neighborhood kids. I get tired of standing, and that was BEFORE I was pregnant.

How cute is his helmet?

It didn't take us very long. We did it prior to going to Home Depot, and Caiden even had time to show Gigi how well he could pedal his bike.

If At First You Don't Succeed Try, Try Again

I got tired of looking at the dead flowers as I walked out my door every morning. I also got tired of Caiden asking why I killed them, so I thought I would teach my son a lesson about persistence.

My mom came over to help me out around the house a little, as I am becoming quite large and I tire easily. As such, we all made the trek out to Home Depot to pick some new "victims", uh..er...I mean flowers for my flower pot. This time, I got smart!!!

I let Caiden do the picking :) My mom and Caiden picked some really nice flowers, and guess what...so far they're holding on. Remember, the computer problems left me unable to post for a while. This also gave me a chance to see if this would part 2 in the Black thumb drama. But Alas!! It is not so.
Caiden digs a hole for the flowers
Still have that confused look on my face, but Caiden was a good director
Caiden would hand me the flowers to plant
And sometimes planted them himself

Caiden was a great helper, and he enjoyed helping me out...that is, until his friend's came to play...then he was outta there! :)

Caiden breaks up the roots ever-so-carefully
nearly done! Whew!

Don't worry...I saved the receipt, in case these bite the dust too.

Birthday Surprise For Dave!

Well, since my computer has been out of commission, I was unable to post the goings on of the past few weeks. Since my last posting, David had a birthday. Of course, Dave is still in the land of the 20's and hasn't quite made it over the hill to 30'sville like I have.

He happened to be working on his birthday, so after a dinner with Gigi, Caiden and I decided to show up at the Fire station to wish him a proper "Happy Birthday".

Caiden and Gigi shared an Ice Cream Shake at dinner
Although I think Caiden drank most of it
The Spoon Toast
Caiden is REALLY enjoying his treat...just look at that smile.

Gigi helped Caiden and I pick out some good treats at the store to bring to the fire station.

Caiden picked out the balloons for Daddy
But felt impelled to test them out to ensure that they were sturdy
Just a little bop on the head to make sure that they are the "Perfect" balloons for daddy

Of course we came equipped with all of the right party elements, expertly chosen by Caiden of course. We had balloons, and a Dora the Explorer cake that Caiden had instructed the baker to write "Happy Birthday Daddy". I thought the other firefighters would get a kick out of the Dora cake, but Caiden was all smiles. He felt very proud for picking out all of the party supplies.

Dave and Caiden right before Dave cut the cake.

When we arrive at the fire station, we all gathered around the table to sing Happy Birthday and enjoy some cake. Caiden was a little shy at first, but quickly overcame his shyness and performed a medley of songs. I have included a brief video of our night here. Right after his performance, Dave was going to take Caiden out to play on the Fire trucks, but they got a call, and quickly jumped into the fire truck and off they went!

Caiden begged me to follow them, but seeing as that is illegal, as well as the call being about a stabbing, I thought it might be better if we headed home to safety.

Computer Problems AGAIN!

Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately. It's truly not by choice, but more by my limitation without a proper computer. My computer decided to call it quits. Which is a little silly, especially since it was just revamped...I practically had a new computer after my sister upgraded mine about 3 weeks ago.

So anyway, to make a long story longer. I went to log on and post a few pictures, and my computer just decided to crash. My sister said it was my hard drive. $120 and a 500 GB new hard drive later, I get my computer back (1 week later) and I log on today and my computer does the same thing.

Unfortunately, my personal IT guru (my sister and her husband) have taken the kids to see his family, so they will be unavailable for 2 weeks. She gives me a quick fix so I can post a few more pictures, but it seems that my computer will need to go BACK to rehab upon their return. The problem now: my computer is not recognizing my new hard drive and is functioning off the old one...sigh...at least it's working right now.

Seagull...condemned to a life of crime?

Things have been a bit hectic and crazy, when one of my co-workers sent me this seagull piece. It made me smile, and laugh...I actually kept it on my desktop to watch to cheer me up. It's actually quite funny.

Watch carefully...the seagull walks up to the store, slows his strut, cases the joint, looks around, steals the bag of Doritos, and then HIGH TAILS IT (no pun intended) out of the store. It's almost like he KNOWS that he is stealing. Higher level of cognitive thinking? I think so. :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqy9hxhUxK0

A seagull in Scotland has developed the habit of stealing chips from a neighborhood shop. The seagull waits until the shopkeeper isn't looking, and then walks into the store and grabs a snack-size bag of cheese Doritos. Once outside, the bag gets ripped open and shared by other birds. The seagull's shoplifting started early this month when he first swooped into the store in A berdeen, Scotland, and helped himself to a bag of chips. Since then, he's become a regular. He always takes the same type of chips. Customers have begun paying for the seagull's stolen bags of chips because they think it's so funny.
